Gynaecology (Women's Health)

The emergency service provides care for gynaecology patients who need to be seen within six hours of referral and includes patients with a suspected ectopic pregnancy or twisted ovarian cyst.

The elective service provides care for general gynaecology conditions. Sub-specialties include urogynaecology and reproductive medicine, we also run clinics to investigate post-menopausal bleeding. If you are experiencing menstrual problems it would be helpful if you could read this leaflet before you attend your clinic appointment

The early pregnancy assessment clinic (EPAC) provides a service for pregnant women who are less than 12 weeks gestation with abnormal bleeding and/or pain. We are not able to provide re-assurance scans within this service.

Outpatient general gynaecology clinics are held at Musgrove Park Hospital, Wellington, Chard, Minehead, West Mendip, Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater.  All patients who require elective surgery have pre-operative assessments. Patients requiring an overnight stay are admitted through the surgical admissions lounge before surgery.
