Timothy Jobson

I graduated in medicine from Oxford University in 1992 and following junior posts I took up a lecturer post in medicine which led to a successful grant application to the Wellcome Trust. This grant funded three years of study (1996-1999) which led to the award of my PhD.

From 1999 to 2004 I worked as a registrar in general medicine and gastroenterology. I was then appointed as a consultant physician in medicine and gastroenterology at Musgrove Park Hospital in April 2004.

My core interest is in the delivery of medical care to both inpatients and outpatients. I enjoy the challenges acute medical care, the demands of inpatient gastroenterology, and the complexities and varieties of outpatient care.

I have contributed to Musgrove's information technology agenda as IT clinical lead and am currently the hospital’s ‘caldicott guardian’, responsible for ensuring we maintain patient confidentiality. I was previously director of clinical service development, and am now clinical director for acute medicine, covering most medical specialties and the emergency department, and deputy medical director. I am also the secondary care doctor on the governing body of Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
