Having completed the undergraduate education in 1992, I completed my postgraduate training in general (internal) medicine attached to the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka obtaining MD (Doctor of Medicine) in 2001.

I became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (London) in 2002 and served as a consultant physician attached to the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka until 2005.

I became a specialist registrar in the West Midlands Deanery in 2006 received training at two university hospitals and a district general hospital in the region. I obtained my certificate of completion of training (CCT) and received dual accreditation in General (Internal) Medicine and Geriatric Medicine in 2011.

My current interests are orthogeriatrics (orthopaedic care for the elderly), osteoporosis, perioperative (time around surgery) medicine, Parkinson's, falls, frailty and syncope and transient (short) loss of consciousness.

I enjoy assessing older patients with complex, multiple medical problems and believe in provision of holistic medical care to patients rather than treating disease entities in isolation in an individual.
