I carried out my specialist training at St. Mark’s, Chelsea and Westminster and Hammersmith Hospitals, London and did my research (Doctorate of Medicine and thesis) on the immunology (science of the immune system) of inflammatory bowel disease.

My subspecialist interests include bowel cancer screening, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) which is a procedure to diagnose problems with the bile and pancreatic ducts, therapeutic endoscopy, oesophageal manometry (a test to see how the oesophgus is working) and inflammatory bowel disease.

I was the clinical lead for gastroenterology and endoscopy from 2004 to 2009, I have been clinical director for the Somerset Bowel Cancer Screening service since 2008 and I have been clinical director for acute surgery and gastroenterology since 2013.
