Nick Burns-Cox

Nick Burns-Cox

I graduated from the University of Bristol medical school in 1990 and undertook my basic surgical training at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital before becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

I then undertook two years research within the Bristol Urological Institute into prostate cancer and was awarded a MD (Doctor of Medicine) from the University of Bristol.

My specialist urological (diseases of the urinary tract) training was based in the Wessex Region including Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth hospitals. After finished my specialist training and having gained a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) (Urology), I applied for a one year fellowship in Royal Perth Hospital in Western Australia.

Whilst there I gained particular experience in new 'keyhole' techniques for the surgical treatment of kidney cancer (laparoscopic nephrectomy). This led to a specialist interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques for urological cancer.

I became a consultant urological surgeon at Musgrove Park Hospital in 2005 and have a wide experience in the treatment of urological conditions of the bladder, prostate and kidney and a specialist interest in the minimally invasive surgical treatment of prostate and kidney cancer.
