After Medical school, I undertook my senior house officer (junior doctor) training and then a PhD in Manchester.

My specialist registrar training and first year as a locum consultant were in London (Oldchurch Hospital, Romford, Royal Free Hospital and Barts and the London NHS Trust in London) and I then moved to Musgrove Park Hospital in 2004.

My clinical interests include nutrition and inflammatory bowel disease and I have led the nutrition team for nearly ten years to provide a high of standard care for those requiring tube or intravenous feeding (until Nov 2013).

Along the way, I have chaired BAPEN Medical (a national group for doctors and scientists with an interest in clinical nutrition support) and organised educational meetings to provide continuing professional development in nutrition for doctors, scientists, nurses and dieticians.

I have a particular interest in governance (safety and quality) and have been the medical governance lead since November 2013.
