Daniel Pearl

Having graduated in 1999, I trained as a junior doctor in London and subsequently undertook specialist training in Wessex (Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset, South Wiltshire and Jersey) from 2004 to 2012. During this time, I undertook a postgraduate doctorate and received the award of PhD in 2014.

I have developed a specialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease, clinical nutrition, intestinal failure and video capsule endoscopy (a capsule people swallow to take pictures of the small intestine) and have published work in these fields.

I was appointed as a consultant gastroenterologist (focusing on the digestive system) in 2013.

I jointly lead the hospital's nutrition support team with my colleague Emma Wesley and am an active part of the inflammatory bowel disease team.

In addition, I am clinical lead for the video capsule endoscopy service and the upper gastro-intestinal cancer service.

Patients with general gastroenterology and liver problems, inflammatory bowel diseases and clinical nutrition disorders, are seen in regular outpatients clinics.
