Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care

Our team of chaplains and volunteers provides spiritual care across the hospital.

The chapel is on level 1 of the Duchess Building, opposite Dunkery and Triscombe Wards. It is open to all 24 hours a day.

Our chaplains

Our chaplains are available to support all patients, visitors and staff, whatever your faith or belief system. Where appropriate we can signpost you to groups outside the hospital who share your belief system.

As a Team we are committed to the wellbeing of the whole person - body, mind and spirit. We respect personal integrity and can help you to explore your hopes and fears while in hospital.

You can request a visit by asking a nurse to contact our chaplains' office on extension 2515 or bleep 2442. In an emergancy, out of hours, ward staff can contact the on call chaplain via switchboard on your behalf.

Ward visiting

Our Sunday chaplaincy team visit between 8am and 10am on Sunday mornings. They bring communion to the bedside of who have requested a visit and offer prayers or spiritual care to those who are unable to attend the chapel service.

Patients can request a visit from our Roman Catholic chaplains, who will bring the blessed sacrament.
