Current vacancies

We are looking for talented and enthusiastic colleagues to join our friendly and progressive emergency department.

Whether you are a junior doctor, emergency medicine specialty doctor, GP or consultant, we would like to hear from you.

About our emergency department

Last year we saw over 64,000 patients, a quarter of which were children. The department was expanded and refurbished in 2013 to provide a high quality four-bed resuscitation room, which includes a dedicated paediatric resuscitation area and gantry X-ray and a 12 bedded 'majors' area.

We strive to provide high quality, safe emergency care and are fully committed to the Royal College of Emergency Medicine quality standards. There is 24-hour access to CT, stroke thrombolysis, primary PCI and interventional radiology services. The hospital has trauma unit status and is part of the Severn Trauma Network, with the local major trauma centre being North Bristol. We have an integrated front door staffed by our own team of GPs and emergency nurse practitioners (ENP) that sits within the footprint of the A&E department. We have recently been awarded £950k to redevelop this part of the department.

A number of consultants are active within national roles. ED currently has the national advisor to NHS England for A&E, as well as a member of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) research and publications committee, the RCEM's director for revalidation and the co-chair of its professional affairs committee.
