Volunteering at Musgrove

Volunteering at Musgrove

Volunteers are involved in many areas in the hospital. They welcome and help patients and visitors at reception areas, help in the wards, clinics and the Chapel and perform clerical tasks.

Volunteers are not expected to have any particular knowledge of hospitals or healthcare; the important requirement is a desire to help and the ability to offer a regular half-day session a week.

Opportunities for volunteers to help support our patients include:

This week we have been celebrating the commitment of our wonderful volunteers across Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Somerset Partnerhip NHS Foundation Trust.

Hundreds of volunteers give up their own time to support our patients and colleagues across the alliance and we want to thank them for their efforts.

Throughout this week we have been featuring profiles of some of our volunteers on our social media channels, in the concourse at Musgrove Park and in our community hospitals and services around Somerset.

There have also been specialist training sessions and celebratory events to thank our volunteers as part of the national Volunteers Week.

You can find out more about volunteering with us at Musgrove Park here and Somerset Partnership here.

Our cancer unit, the Beacon Centre, will be holding a volunteers event on the morning of July 30 for anyone interested in volunteering with them. More details will be shared nearer the time.

To see profiles of the volunteers we have featured this week take a look at the Musgrove Park Twitter feed, Somerset Partnership Twitter or on Facebook: @SomersetPartnershipNHS and @musgroveparkhospital
