Completed projects

We have a number of recently completed projects which have contributed to the overall improvement in services and the environment for staff, patients and visitors, these include:

Jubilee Building and Concourse

The new Jubilee building opened to patients on Saturday 15th March 2014.

The Jubilee building has three wards, Barrington on the Ground floor with 32 beds, Hestercombe on the First floor with 40 beds and Montacute on the top floor with 40 beds. All 112 bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. It replaces four open plan ‘Nightingale’ wards in the Old Building. The wards treat mainly surgical patients for the following specialities General Surgery, Colorectal, Urology, Gynaecology, Breast, Orthopaedic, Vascular and Upper GI.

The wards have been specially designed into eight room ‘pods’ to allow nurses and other health care professionals more time to deliver care directly to patients and to create an environment that improves patients’ safety and well-being.

At the centre of the Jubilee Building is a therapeutic courtyard, including a water feature and sensory landscaping, that can be used by patients and their visitors.
