Musgrove Park Hospital’s private unit celebrates 30 years - 04 February 2020

ParksideParkside, Musgrove Park hospital’s 12-bedded private patient unit celebrated its 30 birthday this week.

In the last five years Parkside has done 1,670 private patient operations, held 1,000 outpatient appointments and accommodated 3,261 NHS patients.

Parkside continues to grow outpatient services and launched new clinics in 2019 for health and wellbeing, capsule endoscopy (which involves a small, wireless, pill-sized camera that can be swallowed to inspect the small bowel and colon) and the heart, for patients across the South West.

Parkside is a venue of choice for patients across Somerset with private medical insurance or those who wish to pay directly.

The unit also offers beds for NHS patients who wish to transfer to a private room, and respite packages for patients fit for discharge but who would like a couple more days in the safe surroundings of Parkside.

Patients enjoy access to a dedicated catering team, more spacious rooms and private car parking directly outside the unit.

All income generated by private patients is reinvested back into trust services –working with the NHS for the benefit of the NHS.
