The entrance to the children’s ward at Musgrove Park Hospital has been given a makeover thanks to a donation from a local golf club.

Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club raised money for the Musgrove Park League of Friends to help make the area more welcoming for children and their families coming onto the ward and a more pleasant environment for those waiting to leave hospital.

The area has been decorated with an interactive colourful tree mural with magnetic words that can be moved around thanks to the £7,000 donation. This was arranged by the hospital’s Arts for Life programme.

Chairs and desks have been added to the entrance area to Acorn Ward and Woodlands Day Unit to provide a drawing area for young patients, along with more comfortable seating for parents.

Sister Caroline Jackson said: “We wanted to make this area welcoming and inviting. Children will be coming up and down here to Acorn Ward and this has been our chance to make the environment more appropriate if they are coming in or waiting to go home.”

John Godley, Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club Captain 2019, said: “We were pleased to assist the League of Friends with this project and it is great to see the results.”
