Find out more about how Musgrove Park Hospital and Somerset Partnership are using new technology - 21 November 2019

The NHS in Somerset is holding a digital showcase event for patients and visitors to see first-hand the new technology coming to Musgrove Park Hospital and Somerset Partnership wards.

Representatives from Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group digital team will also be at the event to talk about digital improvements across the whole of Somerset’s NHS.

The event is taking place at Musgrove Park Hospital’s Jubilee Concourse (next to M&S), on Wednesday 27 November, from 9:30am – 4:30pm, and is an opportunity for people to see how new advancements are improving patient care and safety. Visitors can follows signs to M&S for the digital showcase.

A number of stands will be on display that focus on how technology, such as new speech recognition software, reduces the burden on NHS staff so they have more time to care to patients. Visitors can attempt to say a tongue twister correctly into the software, or guess the most common medicine prescribed in the last year, to enter a competition to win prizes including a Bluetooth speaker and M&S voucher, kindly donated by the NHS’ digital suppliers.

Musgrove Park Hospital was named a Global Digital Exemplar for the NHS in 2016 to enable it to make rapid progress in transforming its use of digital technology. The three-year programme of work, which involves building software with clinicians and rigorous testing and safety checks, is coming to an end and patients will start to see changes in the hospital.
