‘Borders, Boundaries and Margins’ by Day Bowman Art4life

The new exhibition from Art for Life at Musgrove Park Hospital, running from 1 June – 30 November 2015, is called “Borders, Boundaries and Margins” by artist Day Bowman.

Both historical and present day views of the South West’s urban and coastal wastelands are expressed in this breath-taking exhibition.

The collection of powerful yet sensitive paintings transports viewers for a moment to this landscape of abandoned containers, gasometers and concrete, inviting them to share Day’s stories of her own childhood memories in Minehead, Somerset, where she spent her time exploring the architecture of discarded industry.

Sara Dudman, curator for Art for Life said: “Day’s huge canvases explode with colour and life. Rather than being gloomy or despairing, Day’s paintings transform old and disused buildings and industry into magical, energetic and inspiring places. Located in the heart of the new hospital building, this exhibition offers a contrasting view of architecture and counterpoints the light of the hospital interior. This is a ‘must-see’ exhibition.”

The exhibitions programme on ‘The Wall’ offers opportunities for staging exhibitions which stimulate and uplift the audience and also connect with the hospital environment.
