Patients urged to get nominating for this year’s MAFTAs - 09 January 2014

Members of the public can now nominate Musgrove staff in the Patients’ Choice category of the 2014 Musgrove Awards for Tremendous Achievement (MAFTAs)

Entries for the awards, which recognise clinical achievements, educational attainments and some of the hospitals newest and its longest serving employees, are now open and people have until Friday, 14th February 2014 to honour a member of staff or team they feel deserve recognition for their work.

Patients and the public can nominate any member of staff or team for the award, they just need to explain their reasons for nomination including why they made a difference, why they deserve to win the award and how they exceeded expectations.

Director of Nursing and Governance, Carol Dight, said: “The MAFTAs are a fantastic way to thank our staff for all the great work they do to help improve the quality of care we give our patients, and for me the Patients’ Choice Award is extra special as it is staff being recognised as excellent by the people they look after.

“If you have received excellent care at Musgrove and think a member of staff went above and beyond, then please let us know by nominating them.”

A panel of judges will shortlist three nominees who will then be invited to the staff awards dinner at Somerset County Cricket Club on Wednesday, 2nd July 2014.

Nominations can either be submitted electronically to: or by posting them to: Communications Department, Ground Floor, Barton House South, Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 5DA.
