Open day held at Musgrove to mark Tinnitus Awareness Week - 31 January 2014

The day (Thursday, 6th February) will help the hospital mark Tinnitus Awareness Week, which is running from Monday, 3rd February to Sunday, 9th February.

Tinnitus is the perception of noises in the head and/or the ears which has no external source. It is not a disease or illness; it is a symptom generated within the auditory system. Tinnitus is known to be one of the most common health problems facing the UK today.

The open drop in session will be held in the Audiology Department on Thursday 6th February between 9am and 4.30pm. The session, hosted by the hearing therapist at Musgrove Park Hospital, Mandy Hilton, will provide information about the condition and its causes as well as advice on how the condition can be managed.

Mandy said: “I hope that by supporting the aims of the British Tinnitus Association and raising awareness of tinnitus, we can help people learn how to manage this condition effectively.”
