Looking back at Musgrove’s Employee of the Month - 27 September 2013

Each month members of staff are recognised and rewarded for their hard work and extraordinary achievements at Musgrove.

Discharge liaison nurse John Chedgey from Stogursey was June’s Employee of the Month.
John has worked for the hospital for over 10 years and was nominated by his manager Cathy Alper and director of nursing and governance, Carol Dight for having ‘an excellent
work ethic’ and being ‘reliable, accommodating, flexible and hardworking.’
Explaining why she nominated John, Cathy said; “There have been many occasions when relatives of patients at Musgrove have written to me to express their admiration and gratitude to John for his involvement in their loved ones care. John also gives endless energy and input to his colleagues at Musgrove.”
In July, critical care matron, Mandy Coombs was recognised as Employee of the Month. She was nominated by colleague Mary Dodwell from the day surgery unit.
Mary said: “Mandy really puts patients first in everything she does, she is incredibly supportive to staff and is a pleasure to work with. Mandy always delivers on what she has promised to do and gives excellent feedback helping to find solutions to problems. She is a true beacon of professionalism, and should be employee of the year not just the month!”
August saw Gemma Chappell, A&E secretarial administrator, announced as Employee of the Month. Gemma was nominated by her fellow colleague Jean Phillips on behalf of the medical secretarial management team, for her leadership in developing an excellent customer care training package.
Her colleagues commented that Gemma’s continuous motivation and dedication towards this project made the training package a real success. They are extremely proud of Gemma and are so pleased her hard work has been recognised by being named as August’s Employee of the Month.
The winner of Employee of the Month receives a prize bundle worth over £100 sponsored by Hospital Inn Taunton, Tone Leisure, O’Bridge Brewers Faye, Musgrove Flowers and Whitlocks Restaurant.
