Musgrove’s Medical Imaging Services - 06 August 2013

Musgrove Park Hospital’s diagnostic imaging services have been accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and has been given the Imaging Services Accreditation Scheme (ISAS) standard.

ISAS is a patient focused accreditation for UK imaging services. The accreditation is an independent confirmation of organisation’s competence to provide diagnostic imaging services so that patients can have confidence in their outcomes.

Musgrove’s Medical Imaging Department and Breast Imaging Department have both been accredited with this accolade, making Musgrove Park Hospital one of only a few Trusts to gain this rare achievement, and showing what a significant accomplishment it is for the departments within the hospital.

Musgrove’s Consultant Radiologist, Dr John Bell said: “This accreditation is a fantastic achievement for Musgrove Park Hospital and demonstrates how driven we are to continue to provide high quality patient focused care.

“Achieving this national accreditation will continue to provide confidence to our patients and the local community, by displaying our ongoing commitment to improving our diagnostic imaging services for their benefit.”

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the UK's national accreditation body, which has been selected by The Royal College of Radiologists and The College of Radiographers, to deliver and manage ISAS.

Dr John Bell continued to explain: “The accreditation displays that the hospital has achieved the exacting standards set out in the ISAS, which endeavors to promote best practice by addressing patient experience, clinical effectiveness, patient and staff safety and efficient use of resources.”

UKAS will continue to assess imaging services against the ISAS Standard and will ensure, through regular monitoring, that required standards are maintained for patients.
